Meet at Riverside Park in Elizabethton, TN behind theBallpark at 3PM

This is a class I-II river and the dam release will be 2 generators that will make big waves so Please be prepared for very cold water and wear appropriate gear (Non-Cotton insulating long sleeves or splash tops are recommended). If you aren’t sure or need anything, reach out and we can all bring extra cold-water gear.

Helmets are required and bike helmets are not acceptable. Rec boats on this section of the Watauga that spray skirts don’t fit onand if they have no float bags, swamp with water and turn over so make sure you can get a skirt on your boat before you come.

We stop for a break about halfway down so don’t forget your power snacks! We are usually off the water by 7:00 or so and after we get back to the Ballpark & transfer boats back to our vehicles by 7:30-ish.

Directions: From W Elk Ave in Elizabethton Turn at the MISO Teriyaki House onto West Mill Street.
Take thefirst street on Left onto Ash Street.
Follow that street to the end and you will see the river. Turn left and pull into the small paved parking area near a covered picnic area. Look for boats!
