It’s time for our club’s crown jewel river trip!
River Trip Logistics:
~NOLICHUCKY GORGE River Trip (Class III/IV*) lead by APE’s Cruise Director, Wesley R. Bradley.
Cost: $5.00 for USA Raft bus shuttle (includes parking pass).
*Please be mindful of the water level for the day and your whitewater skill set. Please also ensure you bring a whitewater boat suitable for the river conditions. Low water flow (<600 CFS) will be more technical with a creek like feel and broaches will occur more often without good boat control.Higher water flow (1,200> CFS) will be more pushy and swims can be long and boat/gear lose can occur. We will have the trip from 250 – 3,000 CFS. However, to ensure the safety of all participants on this trip we will require 1st timers to execute a few basic paddling maneuvers and/or practice rolls/self rescue in flat water to qualify at the put-in before we headon down the river, if the river flow is not in optimal ranges (600-1,200CFS).
Meet at the USA Raft Outpost (This will be the trip take-out) at 11:00 A.M. When you arrive on site go to USA Raft store to fillout waiver, pay $5 and get parking pass. USA Raft will be shuttling our group up to the put-in using one of their raft buses and a boat trailer. This will make our logistics for shuttling very easy and our cars will be waiting for us back at the take out when we get off the river! Please bring $5.00 to help cover the cost of this shuttle ride and this covers your USA Raft parking pass.
~LOWER NOLICHUCKY River Trip (USA Raft Outpost toSawmill – Class I-II) lead by APE’s Cruise Director, Debbie Briscoe.
Plan to play a lot and maybe even stop & go swimming with a snack break included to make it a fun day on the lower!
Meet at the USA Raft Outpost (This will be the trip put-in) at 12:00 P.M. to set shuttle for the Lower Noli Trip. When you arrive on site go to USA Raft store to get free parking pass. Mention APE event with no shuttle for free parking pass.
APE’s Picnic:
Meet at the USA Raft Outpost at 6:00 P.M.
This is our last big “get together” for the year. We willhave tasty food catered by Barberitos (http://www.barberitos.com/) when weget off the river! Please feel free to bring any side dishes or deserts to share with the group.
If you are an APE’s member the meal will be FREE and non-APE’s members can chow down with us for $15.00 per person (Includes APE’s membership through Dec 2020!). We will also provide water and sweet tea for beverages at the picnic. If you do wish to bring adult beverages to the picnic, USA Raft has asked that you drink them from a cup (NO glass or cans!). You may also want to bring a folding chair due to limitedseating.
What to bring:
•$5.00 per person for shuttle/parking pass, if running Noli Gorge
•Sign waiver and/or pick up parking pass at USA Raft Store
•Appropriate whitewater boat, paddle & gear that you own (Yes, I will sing the song while we are loading!)
•$15.00 to eat at picnic per person, if you’re not an APE’s member. This will get you signed up as an APE’s member through 2020 and cover your meal!
•Folding chair for picnic
•Feel free to bring side dish or dessert to share at picnic.
