Description

Basic three-sided concrete-block/ metal roof shelter with open front and wooden sleeping platform.

Location

As the name implies, along the crest of Iron Mountain right along the AT.

Water

Water available 0.2 mile south of the shelter.

Maintenance History

  • 1992: Caulked around nails and under ridge cap.
  • Oct 1991: Replaced rafters and laths, and installed new corrugated galvanized steel roof on front, and new heavy duty corrugated galvanized steel roof on back. Painted entire shelter. A picnic table was installed.
  • 1960: Built by US Forest Service.
