Location: Civic Park Trailhead, Civic Park Trailhead, Ewing VA 24248
Hike Details: Sand Caves VA Hike, 8.3 mi / 2,270 ft elevation gain, 5-6 hours + 1 hour for breaks. The starting point is at Civic Park Trailhead, S.R. 724, Ewing VA, 24248 (90 min drive from Kingsport). Given the distance, it would probably be best to carpool; for carpooling let’s meet at the Kingsport Food City near downtown (300 Clinchfield St., Kingsport TN) at 7:15 a.m. and plan to leave by 7:30 a.m. The whole affair will be about 10 hours including driving time, allowing people to be home in time for dinner if we start at the trailhead around 9:00 a.m.
This will be a long hike, so make sure to bring plenty of water for the hike and lunch + snacks.

Time: 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Location: TVA Boat Ramp, Boone Lake, 286 Boone Dam Road, Kingsport TN 37663
Time to start the paddling season! I hope you’ll sign up to join me on June 20th for an easy paddling trip on Boone Lake. Meet at the TVA Boat Ramp off Minga Road, near the Dam at 9:30am. Plan to paddle 2ish-miles (subject to group’s choice, but anticpate different route than previous two years), and should be off the water around noon or a little after. Beginners or first-time paddlers welcome! The club will transport our boats (6 sit-in, 3 sit-on, 1 canoe), PFDs, and paddles to location, so all you need to bring is water, snacks, and any other supplies you might want (sunscreen, etc.). If you have a boat and would like to bring it, the more the merrier; just let me know on the sign-up form and please bring appropriate gear, including PFD!
