SUMMARY:Nolichucky Camp-Out Weekend
DESCRIPTION:NOLI is teaming up with the APE's to have a camping and paddlin
g weekend on the Upper & Lower Nolichucky! The camp-out will be on Surviva
l Island where NOLI teaches their survival and map & compass classes. Duri
ng the day they may be having a class but we'll be on the river unless you
're taking a class already so you would get to camp with all of us at the
endas a bonus!\n\nFor just the camp-out and paddle trip the only thing it
will cost you is to bring your own food for dinner.\nBe prepared to wade a
cross the creek to get to the island! So having your camping gear in a bac
kpackor large carry bag is best to avoid several trips.\nSlick rocks are a
factor so hiking poles are suggested as well.\nIt's difficult to get cool
ers orlarge stoves and such across the creek so bring backpacking food an
d stoves or be prepared to cook in the fire.\nBoats should stay on your ca
rs because we'll walk back over to meet those who aren't camping but want
to paddle each morning.\nA cable lock for your boat is a good idea for ove
rnight.\n\nFriday evening we'll meet after work to get set-up in camp and
settle in.\nSaturday morning at 11:00 we'll organize the shuttles at USA R
aft Parkinglot and hit the river! So non campers meet there at 11:00.\nSun
day morningwe can do another run or go home\, same times unless otherwise
arranged.\n\nPlease contact Debbie if you plan to camp so we can get a hea
d count to make sure there is enough parking and\nit may cost you a few bu
cks to park at USA Raft.\nContact: Debbie Briscoe\, ldcakes@hotmail.com\,

SUMMARY:Rocky Fork Beaver Workday
DESCRIPTION:The APE's are teaming up with the State Park Crew to help clean
-out wood/strainers from this beautiful little steep creek for safer paddl
ing.\n\nThe Rocky Fork (Class III-V) has been frequently paddled by many c
reek boaters over the last few decades\, but storms in recent years have f
illed the creek with many fallen trees. The State Park Staff wants to reme
dy this situation with a workday with whitewater paddlers to prepare the c
reekfor the upcoming creeking season. This is also a great way to scout th
e creek run at low water!\n\nDue to State Park legal oversight\, only park
staff can operate chainsaws. They will have 2-3 park folks out operating
saws. Paddlers/volunteers will swamp brush and clear cut wood. The park wi
ll provide hand operated as well as truck winches to help drag out the big
stuff.\n\nMeet at the Main Parking Lot with work gloves\, clothes & shoes
that canget dirty/wet\, safety glasses\, and water/snacks. Park will have
helmets and some gloves to loan out.\n\nPlease Register for event so Rock

(includes parking pass).*Please be mindful of the water level for the day
and your whitewater skill set. Please also ensure you bring a whitewater
boat suitable for the river conditions. Low water flow ( CFS) will be mor

the trip from 250 – 3\,000 CFS. However\, to ensure the safety of all p
articipants on this trip we will require 1st timers to execute a few basic
paddling maneuvers and/or practice rolls/self rescue in flat water to qua
lify at the put-in before we headon down the river\, if the river flow is
not in optimal ranges (600-1\,200CFS). Meet at the USA Raft Outpost (This
will be the trip take-out) at 11:00 A.M. When you arrive on site go to U
SA Raft store to fillout waiver\, pay $5 and get parking pass. USA Raft w
ill be shuttling our group up to the put-in using one of their raft buses
and a boat trailer. This will make our logistics for shuttling very easy
and our cars will be waiting for us back at the take out when we get off t
he river! Please bring $5.00 to help cover the cost of this shuttle ride
and this covers your USA Raft parking pass.~LOWER NOLICHUCKY River Trip (U
