Blue flags on the trail mark the in-ground nest. We had no issues skirting around the side of the trail/nest. Trail was otherwise in great condition.)

The 900' elevation gain is roughly 83 floors experienced at an 18% average grade. The path was covered with a thick layer of oak leaves, which was slippery thus recommend hiking poles in the Fall especially to avoid "skiing" on the way back down.     • Report:Daniel Boone Trail-20200726002822  + (Formally, there is no Daniel Boone Trail uFormally, there is no Daniel Boone Trail up to Kane Gap outside of a sign at the trailhead and a reference on the Scott County VA Tourism website since it travels on old logging roads across both private and public property. TEHCC Trail Wiki now how a reasonable route which is a steady climb of just under 1,200’ over three miles. It starts at a locked gate on a residential street which is an access road passing a water tower. There are two critical junctions to make good choices to avoid getting lost on Powell Mountain. A new interpretive center is in town, open Friday through Monday (10am- 6pm), to enjoy a short video and exhibits for interesting facts and history about the Wilderness Trail.ts and history about the Wilderness Trail.)
