From the termination with Azalea Trail, the trail is fairly flat as it follows the north ridge. Once leaving the ridge passing the junction of [[BMP Indian Pipes Trail|Indian Pipes Trail]], the trail takes a step climb down off of the ridge where it terminates at the crossroads with [[BMP Lake Road|Lake Road]] and [[BMP Back Hollow Road|Back Hollow Road]].
From the upper end of [[Trail connects to::Azalea| Trail|Azalea Trail]], River Mountain Road is fairly flat as it follows the north ridge. At the fire tower, it connects with [[Trail connects to::Fire Tower Trail]]. After passing the junction of [[Indian Pipes Trail|Indian Pipes Trail]], the road descends off of the ridge passing [[Trail connects to::Bear Run Trail]] to the crossroads at Feagins Gap with [[Trail connects to::Lake Road (Bays Mountain Park)|Lake Road]] and [[Trail connects to::Back Hollow Road|Back Hollow Road]].

Trail Overview[edit]

Located in Bays Mountain Park. Another restricted access road for nice group hikes up to the ridge offering views of Holston Defense and access to the north ridge fire tower.

How to get there[edit]

This gravel road is not directly accessible from the main parking lot, but must be reached through other routes. Typical access trails could be Azalea Trail, Bays Mountain Road, or Lake Road.

Route Description[edit]

From the upper end of Trail, River Mountain Road is fairly flat as it follows the north ridge. At the fire tower, it connects with Fire Tower Trail. After passing the junction of Indian Pipes Trail, the road descends off of the ridge passing Bear Run Trail to the crossroads at Feagins Gap with Lake Road and Back Hollow Road.
