Thank you. I'm an avid hiker for both the east TN and western NC area. I've used this site several times for info and I thought it might be time to start giving back. I can see many things that I could contribute from my own hikes even if it's just a GPX track. Just need to learn how this works.

Welcome back

Welcome back! Thanks for the update. I've been occasionally futzing around with this site as you may have noticed. I have overhauled the trail page editing system. Warriors' Path State Park is usually my test bed. Bays Mountain Park Trails are mid-conversion.

Currently there are the "old format" pages and the "new format" pages. New format is now "form editable." There are also new templates to work better. Automatic park trail tables, and a few others currently escaping me. Most notably are Trail Maps which also provide a link to upload KML's to the page. No more FTP needed. And marker pins are on a tab in the Form Edit view.

I converted Chimney Top since you edited it. Oh! You can now "Hiked It" from a button in the top right of a trail page. Idea is that, at a minimum you could keep track of your hikes and create charts and tables of distance, trails hiked, etc. If it was used often, it could also show trail conditions. But it would need some sort of "freshness" gauge. Templates to show that data in collected form still need to be made.

I installed a simple table importer. So you can create a simple table in Excel, then create CSV or tab delimited text file then that can be pasted into the markup between the <tab></tab> commands. Probably better tab delimited so you can use commas in numbers and elsewhere. Simple Table

You can still edit straight in the text (and I often still do) but the forms keep me using consistent naming and formatting.
