Here are some of the hike plans from the club over the years:

F/B: Warrior’s Path State Park - Devil’s Backbone and Fall Creek Loop Trails
Rating: Easy – Four miles with steep climb up and over Lone Cedar Overlook
Enjoy a short local hike which provides views from overlooks, a stroll along a creek, and walk around open fields of a former farm. Meet at the north end of the Fall Creek Road bridge by the golf course in Warriors Path State Park at 1:00 PM. Dress appropriately for a summer hike and bring some drinking water for hydration. For further information, check the trail wiki or call the hike leader.

Family/Beginner Hike: Warrior’s Path State Park
Devil’s Backbone and Fall Creek Loop Trails, July 31
Leader: Neil Dotson
Rating: C/4/C
This hike, even if short (around 5 miles at most), does provide variety: cliffside views, a creekside stroll, and then open fields. We will begin with a scramble up the hill to the cliff (where you find yourself at the margin of the golf course!) and then there is a climb down (steeper, to my recollection) to Fall Creek. We can explore the Fall Creek Loop Trail as far as we think little feet can stand, given that we will have to retrace our steps if we don’t spot a car at the end the loop trail (a possibility). We will meet at Warrior’s Path parking lot near the swimming pool (just inside the gate off Hemlock/Fall Creek Roads) at 9:00 AM, to beat the summer heat. Please call for more information as the time approaches and so I can plan for numbers. Current plans are to be done by lunchtime (between noon and 1:00). Dress appropriately for a summer hike and do bring water and snacks.

Warrior’s Path State Park—Devil’s Backbone, February 7
Leader: Nancy Wilson
Rating: Easy
We will meet at the swimming pool parking lot at Warrior’s Path State Park and carpool to the trailhead. Devil’s Backbone is a beautiful and diverse trail close to home. There will be good views of the lake from our two climbs, rushing water in Fall Creek, and a loop through an old farm on our five-mile trek. Bring water and dress appropriately for the weather.

DEVIL'S BACKBONE, WARRIORS PATH PARK
(Scheduled: Saturday, 13 August 94)
Leader: Collins Chew
Rating: Easy
This will be an easy hike close to Kingsport. We will hike the Devils Backbone Trail in Warriors Path State Park to the spectacular cliffs overlooking Ft. Patrick Henry Lake and down to the Fall Creek embayment. We will then explore the newly added nature walk trail through an old farm. Meet in front of Eastman Personnel, Bldg. 215 at 9:00 AM or at the end of the bridge at the golf course in Warriors Path Park at 9:20 AM. Bring water and a snack if you wish and wear comfortable shoes. The hike should be about 4 miles and we should return by lunch time. Call for more information or to let me know you are going.
