Trail Overview

A hike up the west side of Holston Mountain to overlook. Not a routinely maintained USFS trail.

How to get there

From Kingsport, TN:

  1. Take I-26 south to Exit 24 for US-321 towards Elizabethton.
  2. Continue through Elizabethton.
  3. Take left (north) onto US-19E.
  4. Turn right (east) onto Flatwoods Road.
  5. After a couple of miles the rough road becomes Big Creek Road.
  6. Parking lot is on left (north) side of the road. Trail is across roadway heading to the east.

Route Description

From the parking lot, find the trailhead marker. The faint path proceeds 80' uphill, then begins to follow the elevation. At 0.4 miles, intersect old forest road/ATV path.

Typical Conditions

Trail is not being actively maintained by the USFS. A faint path to old logging road.

Fees, Permits, etc.

Located in Cherokee National Forest. No fee to hike the trail.
