Trail was in good condition. There was still a little water on Azalea even though it hasn’t been too rainy recently.  +
The trail was in great shape  +
Trails were in great shape  +
B
Trails were in good condition. Some parts were wet due to recent rain but otherwise passable.  +
Passable condition, although spent some time cutting back growth. A summer crew is upgrading several bridges.  +
Trail in good condition  +
Heavily covered in leaves but the path is largely able to be determined  +
Trail was in good shape with only one step over blowdown that I recall  +
Recent rerouting of Boneyard on the Southern starting branch from Fawn Loop  +
Some water running across the trail in some places and very soggy in other places. Too wet for tennis shoes.  +
C
Trails were in good conditions with no problems to report  +
A lot of water still on the back side of Little Hump. Everything else was still in great condition.  +
The lesser used Channels Trail follows forest roads varying between open gravel to a passable single path with patches of tall stinging nettle. Some overhanging growth was lopped back during the climb. The red blazes could use refreshing with some improvement in signage as key junctions. The spur trail to The Channels needs a heavy cut of the rhododendron pushing hikers towards the edge.  +
A reason you will have this trail all to yourself during the summer is the vast amount of stinging nettles, especially if wearing shorts. The trail was clear and in good condition. Could use a few water diversions reopened to get the flow off the path to prevent further erosion.  +
Trail was fantastic! It was a bit wet in some spots, but not overly muddy. Met a maintainer along the way that was fixing some of those spots.  +
The property owner met our group and gave us instructions for staying on trail. The rocky trail was covered in leaves but fairly easy to follow. The trail was marked using ribbons and some yellow paint. Ropes must be used to scale the rockface the last section of the climb, not suitable for small children or inexperienced hikers. The view was amazing from the top of the ridge but slightly obstructed by trees. We made our way to the airplane beacon but this would be difficult in the summer because of briars.  +

Formally, there is no Daniel Boone Trail up to Kane Gap outside of a sign at the trailhead and a reference on the Scott County VA Tourism website since it travels on old logging roads across both private and public property. TEHCC Trail Wiki now how a reasonable route which is a steady climb of just under 1,200’ over three miles. It starts at a locked gate on a residential street which is an access road passing a water tower. There are two critical junctions to make good choices to avoid getting lost on Powell Mountain. A new interpretive center is in town, open Friday through Monday (10am- 6pm), to enjoy a short video and exhibits for interesting facts and history about the Wilderness Trail.  +
Signs of recent clearing of blowdowns but trail is in good condition and passable by even bikes. A few minor muddy spots, but again still easily passable by bikes and hikers.  +
A little bit of trash. Trail spider webs are starting to comeback.  +
Trails in good shape. Fallen leaves make identification a little tricky, but not impossible.  +
