Should we create categories on length, maybe 1-3mi, 3-5, 5-10? So people can quickly search for length --Tim 11:29, 26 March 2011 (EDT)
:So Easy/Medium/Difficult not enough? I did a 3 miler today (Grotto Falls) which others rate as Moderate due to elevation change. Is there another way to filter down by trail length? If no, then length categories sound reasonable.--Vhasler 18:12, 31 March 2011 (EDT)
::The thought was time commitment. You could have an easy 1mi hike or an easy 10mi flat ground hike. The other way to indirectly get there would be hiking time but I don't think we're categorizing by that either and like difficulty is quite subjective. The root of my thought was that there are extensions that we can install that would let people search based on multiple categories simultaneously. For example one could search for trails that have all of the following categorical tags, Difficult, Dog Friendly, Tennessee, and if we had it 10-20mi. Currently you can only list/search trails by a single category at a time. If you like it feel free to make up a collection of categories and add it to the category strategy page. --Tim 21:37, 1 April 2011 (EDT)

Can the KMLs be natively used in handheld GPSs? Should we provide links to GPS files for others to use on their device? I still need to allow more types of uploads. --Tim 11:29, 26 March 2011 (EDT)
:Need to investigate. I am learning on this whole GPX/KML and receivers communications.--Vhasler 18:12, 31 March 2011 (EDT)
::I think the GPX format is the universal one. But I don't know either, we need a GPS person to tell us what would be best and how to make it. --Tim 21:37, 1 April 2011 (EDT)

Been out on spring break with very poor wireless connection. (Won't be staying at that resort again.) Also busy over on Waymarking.--Vhasler 18:12, 31 March 2011 (EDT)

I'm thinking of making a new infobox but for parks/trail systems. For example, it would be on the Warrior's Path State Park page. Any thoughts (yes/no, what to include/not include, etc...)? I would start from the trail one but add and remove rows as appropriate. Maybe 'miles of trails', type (state park, national forest, national park, city park, etc...), Fee,... Anyway, just thoughts --Tim 21:37, 1 April 2011 (EDT)

Hey, I am working on Grotto Falls while UK/UCONN game starts. Don't change that page. Now I have to figure out how to get my work to save.--Vhasler 21:13, 2 April 2011 (EDT)
:Whoops! Sorry! Save over it, I didn't do anything important, just added waterfall IB image and category. Copy the text to notepad before you hit save just in case!. --Tim 21:33, 2 April 2011 (EDT)
