A '''temporary campsite''' has been established ~0.25 mile trail south of the A.T. crossing with US321.  It is near crest of ridge (~2250 ft elevation) east of Shook Branch and south of powerline right-of-way with NNW exposure.

Otherwise, Watagua Lake Shelter is three-sided with open front and wooden sleeping platform.

On the shore of Watauga Lake between [[Dennis Cove Rd to Wilbur Dam Rd|Watauga Dam Road and US321]]. The shelter is 50 yards uphill off the AT on a blue-blazed side trail.

== Maintenance History ==

*Mar 2011: Bear pole installed by Eagle Scout Seth Douthat.
*2007: Installed gutter on back and stained outside of shelter 
*Mar 1997: New steel roofing was placed over the existing shingles. Material floated over lake!
*1994: Picnic table installed.
*1980: Built by US Forest Service.
