Since one of the club benefits is the
opportunity to try out new equipment through our rental program, a Hennessy Expeditions
hammock has been purchased for rental use. No need to worry about hard ground (unless
you don’t get it strung up right!). The 3 lb, 5 oz hammock with a separate
canopy can fit up to a 6 ft, 250 lb person. Once set up, you just walk
into the middle......turn around, sit down.......lay back....... lift feet
....... and the entrance snaps closed. Refer the manufacturer's website for more
details and better instructions. The steering committee has decided to
offer this tent at the “A” rental rate of $8 for 1-4 days, $10 for 5-10 days.

More details for the equipment book:
The instructions are on the bag. Need to get four tent stakes (two to
spread the hammock sides, two to spread the rain fly/canopy).
The key points to setting up the tent are:
Center – between the trees or hanging points. The recommended distance
between trees is 12' to 25' feet for the Expedition Asym.
Level - the ridge line should be level once assembled
Chair Height - the entrance should be chair height for you to sit down (and not
hit ground). The farther apart the trees, the higher up on the tree you'll
have to attach your webbing straps.
Care and Maintenance
Dry and repack damp gear to avoid mildew, mold or color bleeding. To
clean, hand wash using mild detergent, warm water rinse and air dry.
Inspect for damage after each use. Children under 12 years must be
supervised. Do not smoke, cook or light fires inside the hammock.
Hammock is guaranteed for one occupant and weight limit of 250 lbs.
Detail of lashing to webbing straps using four
figure-8 wraps around main supporting rope and behind webbing strap loops plus 2
half hitches. This is very similar to the figure-8 used when tying a rope
to a cleat.
