Nolichucky Camp-Out Weekend

Event Type

NOLI is teaming up with the APE’s to have a camping and paddling weekend on the Upper & Lower Nolichucky! The camp-out will be on Survival Island where NOLI teaches their survival and map & compass classes. During the day they may be having a class but we’ll be on the river unless you’re taking a class already so you would get to camp with all of us at the endas a bonus!

For just the camp-out and paddle trip the only thing it will cost you is to bring your own food for dinner.
Be prepared to wade across the creek to get to the island! So having your camping gear in a backpackor large carry bag is best to avoid several trips.
Slick rocks are a factor so hiking poles are suggested as well.
It’s difficult to get coolers orlarge stoves and such across the creek so bring backpacking food and stoves or be prepared to cook in the fire.
Boats should stay on your cars because we’ll walk back over to meet those who aren’t camping but want to paddle each morning.
A cable lock for your boat is a good idea for overnight.

Friday evening we’ll meet after work to get set-up in camp and settle in.
Saturday morning at 11:00 we’ll organize the shuttles at USA Raft Parkinglot and hit the river! So non campers meet there at 11:00.
Sunday morningwe can do another run or go home, same times unless otherwise arranged.

Please contact Debbie if you plan to camp so we can get a head count to make sure there is enough parking and
it may cost you a few bucks to park at USA Raft.
