The Hootenanny Hang-Out Weekend is in Unicoi in the Roan Mtn area 20 minutes from the Nolichucky River. It’s a weekend camp-out with outdoor activities, music, food and prizes set in a beautiful wooded location on Upper Stone Mountain!

Music:

There will be picking on the porch by the The Bluebirds Family Bluegrass Band and it’s open for anyone with an instrument to join in Saturday night after a day of fun activities!

Whitewater:

*Nolichucky Gorge Class III-IV trip lead by Steven Adams; Saturday, June 8, 10:30am at USA Raft

*Lower Nolichucky River ClassI-II lead by Shelly Richards; Saturday, June 8, 11:00 at USA Raft

Flatwater:

Watauga Lake Touring Trip lead by Michelle Duffourc; Saturday, June 8, 10:15 at Watauga Dam Boat Launch

Hiking:

Hikes on RoanMountain from Carvers Gap to Grassy Ridge or to Roan High Knob.

Meet atCampground Saturday, June 8, by 9am

Saturday Night:

At 6pm we’lldo a pot luck dinner, and we’re having a raffle of hammock camping gear to help pay for the use of the campground.

Do Not Make Reservations for camping, I have already rented the entire campground. Anyone camping can give a donation to help cover my costs. Over 50 people have already registered so If there’s any money left over it goes towards a deposit for next yearand any extra costs like firewood etc.

Raffle:

Tickets to the gearraffle are sold and paid for Saturday night at the event..

Bring cash to buy your tickets! $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20

Sunday:

From11:00am to 3:00pm I will be holding an interactive Hammock Camping & Tarpology Class through NOLI at the campground. So any of you who may want to learn the finer points of using a camping hammock with tarps, under quiltsand bug nets this is a comprehensive class.

And there is a guest speaker from dutchwaregear.com to demonstrate titanium suspension options to use instead of tying knots!

Campground Amenities:

There are 98 acres at Blackberry Blossom Farm of wooded property with Walk-In-Only camp sites and they will gladly haul all your stuff to your site with their tractor and small trailer.

The sites have fire pits, picnic tables and there is potable water in the common area.There are also two very clean bathrooms with showers and a large outside sink for clean-up near the camp store.

The camp store has ice, ice creamand snacks and just about anything you may have forgotten!
