The trail to Chimney Rocks begins a gate next to the railroad tracks. The path is on an old road up the ridge. The trail does have some switchbacks, but is steep climb. Along the way, enjoy the views of the French Broad River. At the top, it intersects the Paint Mountain Trail which heads off for 9.5 miles towards the campground.
